A must-read for pilots! Several ways for drones to return automatically

For beginners, the "intelligent return" function in drones might be a lifesaver.




When the user activates the one-click return function, the low battery of the drone triggers the low battery return function, or the loss of communication signal between the remote control and the drone triggers the out-of-control return function, the drone will automatically return to the return point and land. Therefore, we need to set the return height reasonably.




When the one-click return button is pressed, regardless of the route the drone has taken before, it will turn its nose towards the return point, then climb or descend to the return height we set at that time, and automatically fly straight back above the return point position until it lands. The navigation height can generally be set to about 20 to 30 meters above the highest obstacle in the entire road from the starting point to the end point.




Under normal circumstances, it is recommended that beginners do not exceed the visual range and keep the flight altitude below 120 meters. Next, Yingzai will explain some small knowledge points about the return of drones to everyone.




01. Return out of control


The forward-looking binocular stereo vision system can map the flight environment in real time during flight and record the flight trajectory. When the remote control signal of the aircraft is interrupted for more than 3 seconds, the flight control system will take over the control of the aircraft, refer to the original flight path to plan the route, and control the aircraft to return.




If the wireless signal returns to normal during the return journey, the user can control the flight speed and altitude through the remote control, and can briefly press the intelligent return button on the remote control to cancel the return.




02. Smart Return


The intelligent return mode can be activated by pressing the intelligent return button on the remote control. Its return process is the same as the out-of-control return, but the difference lies in that users can control the speed and height of the aircraft by hitting the lever to avoid obstacles. After startup, the status indicator light of the aircraft still flashes according to the current flight mode.




During the intelligent return process, the aircraft can detect obstacles at a maximum distance of 300 meters, plan the detour path in advance, and intelligently choose to hover or bypass the obstacles.




If the obstacle perception system fails, the user can still control the speed and altitude of the aircraft. After exiting the intelligent return by pressing the intelligent return button on the remote control, the user can regain control.




03. Return home after avoiding obstacles


To avoid obstacles and return, if an obstacle is detected 30 meters ahead of the nose of the aircraft, the aircraft will slow down. After decelerating to hovering, the aircraft will rise by itself to avoid obstacles. After rising to a height of 5 meters above the obstacle, the aircraft stopped ascending. Exiting the ascending state, the aircraft continued its journey to the return point.




04. Smart low battery return


The intelligent low-power return system intelligently calculates the required power for return based on parameters such as flight distance and return altitude. When the intelligent low battery reminder is triggered, if it is not cancelled, the drone will return. Please note that it can be cancelled during the return journey, but no further prompt will be given afterwards.




Severe low battery alarm. The drone will automatically descend. Note that at this time, you can push the throttle lever to keep the aircraft hovering and control it to transfer to a more suitable place for landing.
